Machine Quilting at a penny an inch
The following are steps to
ensure your Quilt is prepared for Machine Quilting
1) Make sure your top is square to
ensure
free of pleats, fullness and
tucks.
2) Your top should be free of
embellishments, such as beads, charms, pins, etc. to be added later.
3) Trim loose threads, they can
show under light fabrics and get caught on the machine.
4) Press well, check for loose
seams. This step cannot be stressed enough!
5) Borders should be flat.
If not, this may cause tucks, pleats or fullness.
6) Quilt backing and batting
should be at least 4 inches larger than the quilt top (all four sides).
7) Trim salvage from seams and
press open, the salvage will "pull" differently than the rest of the quilt when
washed.
Please allow time when dropping
off your quilt, so that we can make sure that your top is ready for quilting.
When you arrive we will go over several points of potential concern. If
any items listed above are incomplete, you will have the option to correct or
your quilt will be quilted in the condition as received.
